Some celebs have more tricks up their sleeves than simply pouting on the red carpet…

RICHARD GERE
The Pretty Woman star can woo women with more than his good looks. Raised in a musical family, he’s a proficient piano, guitar and trumpet player. In 1984 he used his trumpet-playing skills in Francis Ford Coppola’s famous movie, The Cotton Club

ANGELINA JOLIE

Aside from being a UN Goodwill Ambassador and mother of six, Angie also managed to find the time to get a pilot’s licence, spurred on by adopted son Maddox. ‘Every time Mad sees a plane, he’s amazed. If I could actually fly a plane by the time he’s four, I’ll be like Superman to him, ’ she commented at the time.

DAVID BECKHAM
We knew there was something behind those ever-changing hairstyles besides a mere fashion statement. Turns out Becks is very handy with clippers and scissors. Appearing on a US talk show hosted by George Lopez, the famous footballer admitted, ‘My mum’s a hairdresser so I’ve inherited that a little bit.’ When his soccer career’s over, we know hordes of women who wouldn’t mind having their locks seen to by Becks.

VIGGO MORTENSEN

A man of many talents, this 51-year-old Lord of the Rings star is also an accomplished musician, artist and poet, with 12 albums and two poetry anthologies to his credit, and artworks featured in galleries around the world.

JENNIFER ANISTON
This former Friends star is quite the songs-tress, according to ex toy-boy John Mayer. ‘She does it when she thinks nobody’s paying attention. I said to her the other night, “There’s a track in there.” I think she could kill it.’ Jen has also belted out tunes on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and on the series, 30 Rock. She’s starring in and co-producing the musical The Goree Girls where we’ll finally get to hear her sing.

ETHAN HAWKE
Ethan may be a well-known actor, but he’s also a published writer.
‘If I could be great at one art form, it would be writing, because I really respect it and it’s not so ephemeral.’ Ethan has released two novels to date, The Hottest State (1996) and Ash Wednesday (2003).

BRAD PITT
After New Orleans was struck by Hurricane Katrina, Brad put his keen interest in archi-tecture to good use by resolving to build 150 environmentally friendly homes for displaced families. He says, ‘I’m really into architecture, structure and design. Give me anything and I’ll design it. I’m a bit nutty with it.’

HALLE BERRY
Moving like a cat isn’t Halle’s only talent. ‘I can play the flute. I played in high school. I also paint.’ A Bond girl and a geeky flute player? We would never have guessed.
